Penn State Smeal EMBA Global Immersion
Analyzing global business challenges is a fundamental part of the Penn State Smeal Executive MBA experience. Students gain a global perspective on a range of critical business issues, from corporate governance in India to management practices in China and sustainability challenges in South America. This integrated global business content throughout the curriculum culminates with a global immersion that takes place near the end of the second year of the program.
PENN STATE SMEAL VOICES
"An excellent and differentiating part of the Smeal EMBA is the global immersion. Classes spend the better part of two weeks visiting companies of all varieties. The opportunity encourages students to try out their new skills and ask all the questions that an MBA should when encountering business in a foreign culture."
- Donnie Weissberg '10, Senior Manager, U.S. Supply Chain, Bayer HealthCare
Executive MBA students collectively choose the destination for the trip, with an eye towards countries with developing economies. Global immersion trips provide a glimpse into the culture, practices, challenges, and opportunities of living and working globally as students visit businesses and connect with government officials and executives from across disciplines and industries. Businesses include local and multinational firms as well as for and non-profit organizations.
Among the destinations that have been chosen are Brazil, the Czech Republic, Chile, Peru, South Africa, China, Ireland, Turkey, India, Japan and Singapore.
